About Me
October 2021
I live near Calgary, Alberta with my youngest child, Ashley. She is an adult and speaks of moving out on her own one day. She is welcome to stay. I am in no rush for her to leave, at least not yet. My other three children are married and live close to me. Calgary area has been my home since 2004.
My late husband, Jerrie, and I moved many times, from towns and cities in Manitoba, to numerous cities in Ontario, a major country move to the United States, Raleigh to be exact, and back to Canada to settle in Alberta. Living in the Calgary area is the longest place of residence for my family. I believe we moved a total of 13 times, I’ve lost track.
There have been many drastic changes in the last few years. My husband, Jerrie, passed away January 2018 after a difficult battle with cancer. Three of my children married within the span of just over a year. My oldest son, Jeremy, married in April of 2018, months after his dad’s passing. Felisha, my third child and oldest daughter, married July 2019 and my second son, Matthew, married in August of 2019. My son-in-law and two daughters-in-law are an added blessing from the Lord. In 2020 I became a grandmother which added another massive dimension of blessing to my life. Presently, I have two wonderful grandchildren. Although there have been some difficult transitions in the last few years, God has been faithful and continues to bless me with good things.
I began to write in 2002, not because I was gifted or knew of my storytelling talent. It began with a church fast and an unusual dream. After some prayer and soul searching, I began to write. Although my first attempts were less than stellar, I have developed my writing skills since and, after much editing, proof reading and years of fostering this skill, I have progressed as an author.
The genre I gravitate toward is Supernatural Christian Fiction. I’m not sure there is such a genre but that’s the only way I can succinctly describe my writing style. I thoroughly enjoy combining historical facts or simply pure fiction with the supernatural, portraying how God and his angels are involved in everyday life and that His angels are sent to serve those who inherit salvation. My hope is that I encourage your faith and impart the realization that this world is a temporary residence. Heaven is our home and our inheritance. It’s only through Jesus Christ and faith in Him that this life can make sense. He is our reason to have hope and to live our lives with hope. He has not left us alone. Holy Spirit is always with us and there are angels all around us. In including the supernatural aspect in my books, my goal is that your eyes are drawn to heaven, to the eternal, that which cannot be destroyed.
I have also been dabbling in the area of Science Fiction. Some of the blog posts I have written are chapters of an ongoing story in the overarching tale called Dwarkaa’s Domain. Writing in this genre was challenging for me initially but, as I continued to hone my skills, this genre began to grow on me. I love the creativity and imagination required to write these tales.
Even though I was forced into the life of widowhood, I know that I will see my husband again one day. I am convinced that Jerrie is cheering me on from Heaven. He was my greatest writing encourager. I am firmly persuaded that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Jerrie is with the Lord and I will join him there one day. I have loved ones there that I will one day be reconnected with. Writing about the supernatural and heaven has become more relevant to me now than ever before.
